Property worth millions attached in Handwara on ridiculous charge

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, police attached a residential property worth Rs 36 lakh linked to Anayatullah Khan on the ridiculous charge of its renovations being funded by “proceeds from illicit drug activities”.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the property is associated with FIR No. 85/2026 registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

Analysts say the confiscation of property on what they call “ridiculous allegations” is being used as a pretext to strip Kashmiri families of their assets. They argue that such actions disproportionately target individuals and communities known for their commitment to the freedom movement, turning anti-drug and anti-terror laws into tools for economic dispossession.

According to them, attaching homes and land under vague charges serves to punish political dissent and create fear, while weakening the material base of families who refuse to compromise on their demand for self-determination.
