APHC, JKLC mark Burhan Wani’s 10th martyrdom anniversary in Islamabad
Speakers say Burhan’s sacrifice revitalized the Kashmir freedom movement
Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter, in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell (JKLC), organized a seminar at Kashmir House in Islamabad to commemorate the 10th martyrdom anniversary of iconic youth leader of the Kashmir freedom movement, Shaheed Burhan Muzaffar Wani.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Burhan Muzaffar Wani, along with his associates Masoom Ahmad Shah and Sartaj Ahmad Sheikh, was martyred by Indian troops on July 8, 2016, in Islamabad district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Former President and former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan attended the seminar as chief guest, while senior APHC-AJK leader Muhammad Farooq Rehmani presided over the seminar. Najeeb Ghafoor conducted the proceedings.
Addressing the seminar, former AJK President Sardar Masood Khan, Minister for Social Welfare and Women Development Nabeela Ayub, Jamaat-e-Islami AJK leader Abdul Rasheed Turabi, senior APHC-AJK leader Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, Altaf Wani, Abid Abbasi, Arif Bahar, Madam Shameem Shawl, Ghulam Nabi Bhat, and Afsar Khan paid rich tributes to Shaheed Burhan Muzaffar Wani and all the martyrs of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The speakers said Burhan Wani’s martyrdom revitalized the Kashmir freedom movement, inspiring a new generation of Kashmiris to continue the struggle against Indian illegal occupation with renewed resolve. They said his sacrifice became a symbol of courage, resilience and the Kashmiri people’s unwavering commitment to their internationally recognized right to self-determination.
They strongly condemned India’s continued occupation of Jammu and Kashmir and the ongoing human rights violations in the territory. The speakers stressed that lasting peace in South Asia was impossible without a just settlement of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
The seminar concluded with special prayers for Shaheed Burhan Muzaffar Wani, his associates and all the martyrs of IIOJK, as well as for the peace, justice, and the realization of the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
On the occasion, a unanimously adopted resolution paid glowing tribute to Shaheed Burhan Muzaffar Wani and all the martyrs of Kashmir, reaffirming the Kashmiri people’s resolve to carry forward their mission to its logical conclusion. The resolution also demanded the immediate release of all illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists.
The resolution strongly condemned the grave human rights violations being perpetrated by Indian troops in IIOJK and denounced the repressive measures imposed by New Delhi since August 2019. It further declared that no hostile force could weaken the historic, ideological and unbreakable bonds between Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan.
