Indian govt’s stubbornness biggest impediment to Kashmir solution: APHC

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has said that the Indian government’s stubbornness is the biggest impediment to resolving the Kashmir dispute and ensuring peace in the region.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar, expressed serious concern over ongoing human rights violations including arrests, cordon and search operations, house raids, and summoning of youth and journalists to police stations. He urged the world community to take notice of the dire situation in the territory.

He said the Indian BJP government and its military establishment cannot suppress the Kashmiris’ struggle for their inalienable right to self-determination through continued state terrorism and draconian repressive tactics in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

The spokesman said the United Nations and the Indian government had recognized Jammu and Kashmir as a political dispute to be resolved in accordance with UN resolutions and the wishes of the people. He added that tripartite talks involving India, Pakistan, and the genuine Kashmiri leadership would pave the way for settlement of the lingering Kashmir dispute.

He also appealed to the world community to play an effective role in settling the dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
