APHC-AJK high-level delegation leaves for Gilgit-Baltistan

Will review preparations for rally to be held in Gilgit on July 19 on Kashmir Accession Day

Islamabad: A high-level delegation of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir led by Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi left for Gilgit-Baltistan today.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the main objective of the visit is to review the preparations for the grand rally to be held in Gilgit on July 19 on the occasion of Kashmir Accession Day, to meet leaders of various political, religious, social and Kashmiri organizations and to formally invite them to participate in the rally.

It may be recalled that Kashmir Accession Day is observed every year on July 19 to commemorate the historic meeting of the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference held in Srinagar in 1947. In this meeting, a resolution for the accession of Jammu and Kashmir to Pakistan was passed. The Kashmiri people celebrate this day as a symbol of their historical, political and ideological attachment and pay homage to the martyrs of the Kashmir freedom movement and reaffirm their commitment to their right to self-determination.

During their visit to Gilgit-Baltistan, the delegation will meet various political parties, religious and social figures, lawyers, student organizations, representatives of civil society and media persons. In these meetings, detailed discussions will be held on the latest situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the ongoing serious human rights violations in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and the ongoing struggle of the Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination.

The Hurriyat leadership said the July 19 rally will be an important opportunity to renew the Kashmiri people’s historical attachment to Pakistan, pay homage to the Kashmir freedom movement and the martyrs of Kashmir. They said on this occasion, the attention of the international community will be drawn to the serious situation in the Kashmir issue and the legitimate right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people.

The Hurriyat leadership appealed to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan, political and religious parties, lawyers, students, human rights organizations, civil society, and the media to participate fully in the grand rally on July 19 and express their solidarity with the just struggle of the Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination and freedom.

The delegation included General Secretary Advocate Pervez Ahmed, Syed Ijaz Rehmani, Raja Khadim Hussain, Zahid Safi, Sheikh Abdul Majid and Zahid Ashraf.
