Kashmiris’ unwavering resolve has left India frustrated: APHC
Condemns fresh wave of raids, search operations and mass arrests across IIOJK
Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has strongly condemned the BJP-led Indian government’s fresh wave of cordon and search operations, house raids and arbitrary mass arrests of Kashmiri youth across the occupied territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar, expressed grave concern over the ongoing crackdown across the Kashmir Valley and the arrest of nearly 3,000 Kashmiri youth. He said India, despite portraying itself as the world’s largest democracy, continues to subject Kashmiris to brutal repression for merely demanding their internationally recognized right to self-determination.
He said the Indian government has deprived the people of IIOJK of their fundamental rights, including freedom of expression, while anyone raising a voice against repression is immediately imprisoned under draconian laws such as the Public Safety Act (PSA) and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
He said the unwavering resolve and resilience of the Kashmiri people have left India frustrated, prompting New Delhi to give its forces a free hand to unleash tyranny upon unarmed civilians. He added that the latest wave of violent cordon and search operations and the arrest of thousands of youth had once again exposed the hollowness of India’s claims of normalcy in the occupied territory.
Reiterating that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory, he said the United Nations has adopted several resolutions on the Kashmir dispute and that the Kashmiri people will continue their legitimate struggle until those resolutions are implemented.
The APHC emphasized that lasting peace and stability in South Asia cannot be achieved without a just and peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute. He urged international human rights organizations to take notice of India’s grave crimes against humanity in IIOJK and called upon the United Nations and the international community to hold India accountable for its expansionist policies and colonial practices and to press New Delhi to resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions.
