Indian forces launch search operations in Samba and Kathua districts of IIOJK
Jammu: Indian forces have launched extensive search operations in the Samba and Kathua districts of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to Kashmir Media Service, personnel from the Indian Army and the Border Security Force (BSF) initiated the operations after suspected drones were detected near villages close to the Working Boundary in the two districts.
Indian officials claimed that an aerial object was detected by Army troops over Tarore village in the Vijaypur area of Samba district. They further claimed that another suspected drone was briefly seen hovering over Chak Nalua village in the Hiranagar area of Kathua district.
Officials said Indian forces launched comprehensive search operations at both locations to trace any possible payload or other material linked to the suspected drone activity. The operations were underway when the last reports were received.
They added that surveillance along the Line of Control (LoC) and the Working Boundary has been intensified in view of what they described drone activity.
Notably, New Delhi has frequently cited alleged drone sightings, infiltration attempts and other security-related claims to justify intensified military operations and heightened surveillance in areas close to the Working Boundary and the LoC in IIOJK. Such operations often result in prolonged restrictions on local residents, increased militarization and an atmosphere of fear in border villages.
