APHC ridicules India’s Kashmir policy, urges Aug 5 observance as Black Day

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has criticized India’s policies on the Kashmir dispute, saying that New Delhi is misleading the international community about its actions and continued military presence in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid, in a statement issued in Srinagar, condemned India’s brutal and hegemonic policy towards Kashmir.
The APHC said the BJP-led Indian government is attempting to mislead the international community by concealing state terrorism and its illegal military occupation of IIOJK, while continuing efforts to portray the disputed territory as an integral part of India. The spokesman said the BJP government is forcibly imposing its Hindutva ideology and promoting Indian national symbols by hoisting flags on government buildings, educational institutions, and patwar khanas across the occupied territory.
The spokesman asserted that such measures would not alter the political status of Jammu and Kashmir. He further said that India is employing repressive tactics to suppress the Kashmiris’ demand for freedom. He said the BJP regime is stifling the Kashmiris’ voice through draconian measures. The APHC statement said Indian forces, including the army, paramilitary forces and police personnel, are conducting widespread house raids and searches across the occupied territory to arrest innocent people and prevent them from demanding freedom from India.
The APHC further said that Indian investigative agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the State Investigation Agency (SIA), are being used as tools to silence Kashmiris by arresting activists and attaching their properties for demanding their internationally recognized right to self-determination.
The APHC urged the international community and global human rights organizations to take notice of the situation in IIOJK, saying that the people of the territory are being subjected to collective punishment for demanding the implementation of the UN-mandated plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir.
The APHC also appealed to the people to observe August 5, marked as Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir, as Black Day. The spokesman said the BJP government revoked the special status of the internationally recognized disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019, and subsequently placed the region under a severe military and police lockdown.
The statement called for the repeal of India’s actions of August 5, 2019, the release of all political detainees, an end to gross human rights violations by Indian forces in IIOJK, and the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the United Nations resolutions.
