APHC-AJK delegation meets AJK President in Islamabad, discusses IIOJK situation
Kashmir dispute can only be resolved under UN resolutions: President Dr Najeeb Khan

Islamabad: A delegation of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter met President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Dr Muhammad Najeeb Naqi Khan in Islamabad and discussed the latest situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), human rights violations and efforts to effectively highlight the Kashmir dispute at the international level.
The delegation was led by APHC-AJK Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi. Speaker of the AJK Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Tariq Farooq was also present on the occasion.
The APHC-AJK delegation comprised Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, General Secretary Advocate Parvez Ahmad Shah, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoob, Chaudhry Shaheen Iqbal and Secretary Information Imtiyaz Iqbal Wani.
During the meeting, Dr Muhammad Najeeb Khan said Kashmir was an internationally recognized dispute and its final settlement was possible only in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions. He said the Kashmiri people should be given the right to self-determination to decide their political future.
He appreciated Pakistan’s political, diplomatic and moral support for the Kashmiri people and said the unilateral measures taken on August 5, 2019 could neither alter the disputed status of Kashmir nor deprive the Kashmiri people of their right to self-determination.
The AJK president urged the international community to take serious notice of the situation in IIOJK and play its role in protecting the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people. He stressed the need to effectively highlight at the international level human rights violations by Indian forces, the arrests of political activists and Hurriyat leaders, restrictions on freedom of expression and other forms of repression in the occupied territory.
He said UN human rights bodies and international observers should be granted unhindered access to IIOJK to independently assess the situation on the ground. He added that the United Nations must fulfil its responsibility to honour the commitments it had made to the Kashmiri people.
APHC-AJK Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi and other Hurriyat leaders congratulated Dr Muhammad Najeeb Khan on assuming the office of President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and conveyed their best wishes to him.
Ghulam Muhammad Safi also briefed the AJK president in detail on the latest situation in IIOJK and the difficulties being faced by Hurriyat leaders and activists.
