Road mishaps kill 603 people in IIOJK this year

Srinagar: The Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has recorded 3,269 road accidents, 603 fatalities and 4,775 injuries till July 27 this year.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the reports said that 5,452 road accidents, 774 fatalities and 6,972 injuries were recorded in IIOJK in 2021. The number rose to 6,092 accidents, 805 deaths and 8,372 injuries in 2022, followed by 6,298 accidents, 893 fatalities and 8,469 injuries in 2023.
In 2024, the occupied territory reported 5,808 accidents, 831 deaths and 7,820 injuries. Fatalities climbed to 984 in 2025 despite the total number of accidents falling to 5,318, with injuries recorded at 7,594.
Till July 27 this year, the IIOJK has reported 3,269 road accidents, resulting in 603 deaths and 4,775 injuries.
The Ladakh region of the occupied territory has recorded 235 road accidents, 39 fatalities and 368 injuries during the same period.
In IIOJK, pedestrian deaths stood at 101 in 2021, 131 in 2022, 158 in 2023, 144 in 2024 and rose sharply to 477 in 2025. Till July 27 this year, 226 pedestrians had lost their lives, while 1,005 sustained injuries.
