India treating IIOJK as its military colony: APHC
Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has stressed the need for the amicable resolution of the Kashmir dispute and the restoration of the pre-August 5, 2019, status to end ongoing state terrorism and the sufferings of the people in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement issued in Srinagar described August 5, 2019, as a black day and said that occupied Jammu and Kashmir is being treated as a military colony.
He said that August 5 marked one of the darkest chapters in the history of and termed the day as painful and tragic, saying that the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Indian government deprived Kashmiris of their basic human, political, social, and religious rights.
The spokesman said that since August 5, 2019, the BJP government and its administration in the occupied territory have committed unprecedented atrocities against innocent Kashmiris.
He said the Modi government is using agencies such as the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the State Investigation Agency (SIA) to intimidate Kashmiris, confiscate their land and property, and demolish their homes.
Abdul Rashid Minhas said the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir are demanding the reversal of the August 5, 2019 measures, including the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A, the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with United Nations resolutions, the release of all political detainees, and an end to human rights violations by Indian forces in IIOJK.
Expressing serious concern over the deteriorating health of APHC leader Bilal Siddiqi, who is lodged in Central Jail, Srinagar, the spokesman said he remains under illegal detention and is facing political victimization.
He urged the Indian government to abandon its rigid stance and resolve the lingering Kashmir dispute through dialogue. He statement also questioned the BJP government’s claims of development in the territory, asserting that its post-August 2019 promises had proved to be a hoax.
