IIOJK Deputy CM challenges Modi regime’s situation claims after Kulgam killings
Srinagar: Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary has questioned the Modi regime’s claims on the situation in the territory and called for a high-level, impartial investigation a day after two non-local labourers were killed in an attack in Kulgam.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Choudhary said New Delhi had revoked occupied Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, reorganised the territory and promised that militancy would be eliminated.
“Six years later, if people are still being killed, the regime must explain whether its experiment has failed,” Choudhary told reporters. The Deputy Chief Minister referred to the killing of a police constable in Islamabad on July 22 and the killing of two migrant labourers in Kulgam on July 31, followed the National Conference’s July 20 protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi seeking restoration of IIOJK’s statehood. He asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indian Home Minister Amit Shah to constitute a high-level committee to conduct a free and impartial probe into the attacks and identify those responsible.
Questioning official assertions that the situation had normalised, Choudhary asked how attacks are being carried out despite heightened restrictions, including those in place for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra and the forthcoming India’s Independence Day celebrations.
