IIOJK Sikh organizations demand restoration of statehood
Jammu: Various Sikh organizations of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) have demanded the immediate restoration of statehood to the terriotry and called upon the BJP-led Indian government to fulfill its repeated promises in this regard.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the demand was raised during a meeting of Sikh leaders held in Jammu under the chairmanship of Mohinder Singh, head of Bhai Kanhaiya Nishkam Sewa Society.
The participants expressed concern over unfulfilled promises made by the Indian Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the restoration of full statehood to IIOJK. They said that despite repeated promises, no concrete steps have been taken so far.
The Sikh leaders said that although an elected government was formed in IIOJK after the 2024 Assembly electionks, the ground situation remains unchanged. They pointed out to rising unemployment, stalled recruitment processes, and delays in public services, saying these issues have intensified hardships faced by the people.
They also highlighted the ongoing power struggle between the elected government led by Omar Abdullah and the New Delhi-appointed Lieutenant Governor’s administration, saying that common people are suffering due to this tussle.
