APHC-AJK leader Sheikh Abdul Mateen visits PFUCC office in Karachi
IIOJK situation, press freedom and human rights violations discussed
Karachi: APHC-AJK leader Sheikh Abdul Mateen visited the office of the Pakistan Federal Union of Columnists and Creators (PFUCC) in Karachi, where he held detailed discussions on the political, human rights and media situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to Kashmir Media Service, the participants reviewed the situation following India’s unilateral and illegal revocation of IIOJK’s special status on August 5, 2019. The discussions focused on ongoing human rights violations, curbs on press freedom and freedom of expression, attempts to alter the territory’s demographic composition, and the continued illegal detention of the Kashmiri leadership.
Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Abdul Mateen said that free, impartial and responsible journalism remains the most effective means of conveying the true voice of the Kashmiri people to the international community. He urged Pakistani journalists, columnists and digital content creators to play a proactive role in exposing human rights violations and media repression in IIOJK and highlighting the Kashmiri people’s struggle for their UN-recognized right to self-determination.
The PFUCC office-bearers reaffirmed their commitment to continue raising their voice in support of the Kashmir cause and the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people. They also pledged to continue their professional efforts to highlight the ground realities in IIOJK and bring them to the attention of the international community.
On the occasion, Sheikh Abdul Mateen presented the PFUCC leadership with a booklet containing a brief biography of the jailed APHC Chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt.
The meeting was attended by PFUCC Sindh President Akhtar Ayub Khan, Karachi Chapter President Mohsin Khan Rajput, General Secretary Mustafa Kamal Khan, and other members of the organization.
