Youm-e-Istehsal being observed across Pakistan, abroad today
Islamabad: Youm-e-Istehsal is being observed across Pakistan today with renewed resolve to stand shoulder to shoulder with the oppressed people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir in their struggle for the right to self-determination. The day is also meant to protest India’s illegal and unilateral action of August 5, 2019 in the occupied territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the day serves as a powerful reminder to the international community that India’s unilateral and illegal actions of August 5, 2019, aimed at changing the demographic identity of the territory, are in blatant violation of UN Security Council resolutions and international law.
It was on this day in 2019 that India unilaterally and illegally stripped occupied Jammu and Kashmir of its special status, an action which has since been rejected by the international community, Kashmiris and Pakistanis alike. Special events, walks, rallies and seminars are being held across the country, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar, reflecting the united voice of Pakistan’s political, civil, and military leadership in expressing unwavering support for the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
A big rally is being taken out in Islamabad from the Foreign Office. People from different walks of life are participating in the rally. One minute of silence was observed in the morning.
Special broadcasts are being aired to highlight the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people, the contributions of the leaders of the Kashmir freedom movement, and the harsh realities of Indian oppression.
The observance of Youm-e-Istehsal also sends a clear message to the Modi-led Indian BJP regime: the people of Pakistan and IIOJK will never accept the forced Indian occupation and the people of IIOJK will continue their freedom struggle despite all odds. Despite facing brutal repression and relentless human rights violations, Kashmiris continue to resist Indian occupation with unmatched courage.
August 5 remains a Black Day not only in the memory of Kashmiris but also in the conscience of humanity—symbolizing betrayal, oppression, and colonial aggression.
