Indian forces launch cordon-and-search operations across IIOJK
Srinagar: Indian forces have launched cordon-and-search operations in several areas of the Jammu region and other parts of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the cordon-and-search operation, jointly conducted by personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) and police, was underway in Aik Nallah, Kool Kalan and adjoining areas of Arnia in Jammu district ahead of India’s Independence Day.
During the operation, around 15 houses and kullas (shacks) were thoroughly searched, a police spokesperson said.
Similar cordon-and-search operations were also conducted in different areas of Rajouri, Poonch, Kishtwar, Samba and Kathua districts.
Indian forces along with agencies continued their house raids and searches in several areas of Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Budgam, Islamabad, Kulgam and Pulwama districts.
Meanwhile, Indian forces and agencies have intensified surveillance and area-domination measures at key locations and along sensitive routes.
Additional measures have also been put in place around major official Independence Day venues, including Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar and M. A. Stadium in Jammu, with reinforced access controls and security cordons.
Frisking and checking have also been intensified along major highways and other transit routes, with vehicle inspections and identity checks being conducted across the territory.
