Job aspirants detained after scuffle during Lok Bhavan March in Patna

Patna: Several job aspirants were detained after a scuffle with police during a march to Lok Bhavan to demand a transparent recruitment process, officials said.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the march was stopped near R-Golumber where barricades had been erected. A scuffle broke out as protesters tried to breach them, following which security personnel used “mild force” to disperse them, police said. Many protesters were subsequently detained.

The protesters, including members of the All PhD Holders Association of Bihar and guest faculty, have been protesting for over a fortnight. Their demands include implementation of UGC Regulation 2018 for assistant professor appointments, raising the maximum age limit to 55 years, a single-tier exam for BPSC TRE-4, and a domicile policy.

City SP (Central) Mamta Kalyani said adequate forces have been deployed to handle the situation.

One group of protesters warned they would gherao the Chief Minister’s residence on Aug 25 if the government failed to hold dialogue by Aug 24. Another group threatened a Bihar bandh if demands related to BPSC TRE-4 were not considered.
