MC chief, APHC leaders agree to strengthen joint efforts on Kashmir
Islamabad: President of Muslim Conference and former Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Atiq Ahmed Khan, along with a delegation, met the leadership of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference-Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter at its Islamabad office and agreed to strengthen mutual cooperation, coordination and contacts on the Kashmir issue.
The meeting was chaired by APHC-AJK Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi and discussed the situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, ongoing human rights violations by Indian authorities, the Kashmiri people’s freedom struggle and efforts to highlight the Kashmir dispute at the international level.
Speaking on the occasion, Ghulam Muhammad Safi said Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute and the Kashmiri people have been struggling for their right to self-determination for decades. He said India’s use of force, restrictions, arrests and human rights violations cannot weaken the Kashmiri people’s resolve.
He stressed the need for effective coordination, consultation and unity between political parties in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and the Hurriyat leadership to project the Kashmiri people’s voice more effectively before the international community.
Sardar Atiq Ahmed Khan said Muslim Conference considers the Kashmir issue a fundamental part of its political struggle and would continue to support the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination. He said exposing Indian atrocities and human rights violations in IIOJK at the international level was a collective responsibility.
Referring to his late father, Mujahid-e-Awwal and former President and Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan, he said the veteran leader had always accorded the Kashmir cause the highest priority and raised his voice for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination. He said Muslim Conference would continue providing political, diplomatic and moral support to the Kashmir cause in line with his legacy.
The meeting was also addressed by Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, Major Sardar Nasrullah Khan and Zahid Safi. The speakers said the aspirations and right to self-determination of the Kashmiri people must remain central to any just and lasting settlement of the Kashmir dispute.
The Muslim Conference delegation included Major Sardar Nasrullah Khan, Sardar Asim Abbasi and Abdul Jabbar.
The participants agreed to further strengthen joint efforts, mutual cooperation and coordination to highlight the Kashmir dispute globally, expose Indian human rights violations in IIOJK and effectively convey the voice of the Kashmiri people to the world.
The meeting was also attended by Syed Yousuf Naseem, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoob, Chaudhary Shaheen Iqbal, Engineer Mehmood, Syed Ejaz Rehmani, Hassan Libana, Haji Sultan Butt, Raja Khadim Hussain, Syed Mushtaq, Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, Adeel Mushtaq Wani, Nazir Ahmed Karnai, Mian Muzaffar, Gulshan Ahmed, Sheikh Abdul Majid, Manzoor Ahmed Dar, Muhammad Ashraf Dar, Zahid Ashraf, Manzoor Ahmed Shah, Sardar Asim Abbasi, Abdul Jabbar, Afsar Khan and Imtiaz Wani, among others.
