India’s constitutional, democratic framework in danger: Dushyant Dave

Millions being deprived of right to vote: Senior SC advocate

New Delhi: Senior Supreme Court Advocate Dushyant Dave has expressed deep concern over the performance of the Chief Election Commissioner and particularly criticized the process of the Special Summary Revision (SSR) of voter lists.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the senior advocate stated that several members of the Election Commission had raised objections against the SSR, saying that the Chief Election Commissioner was acting improperly; however, no action was taken. The Supreme Court also upheld the SSR, resulting in millions of voters in Bihar and West Bengal being deprived of their right to vote.

He remarked that India’s constitutional and democratic structure is at risk due to the dominance of career politicians, systemic corruption within the judiciary, and administrative overreach.

Dave noted that under the guise of the SSR, notices have been issued to millions of individuals, including himself and his wife, thereby jeopardizing the right to vote and potentially disenfranchising tens of millions of people.

He also highlighted the lack of social diversity among judges, pointing out that not a single female judge was included in the recent Supreme Court appointments.
