IIOJK: Udhampur residents protest official neglect of dilapidated road

Locals warn of intensified agitation over failure to address grievances

Jammu: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), residents of Ramnagar area in Udhampur district staged a strong protest over the authorities’ failure to repair a severely dilapidated road, saying the prolonged neglect has made daily travel increasingly difficult for the local population.

Residents protested against the poor condition of the Zero Morh Flata Road in the area, which connects Jammu with Udhampur, and raised slogans against the Public Works Department (PWD) authorities. The protesters gathered at Flata and also raised slogans against the concerned authorities and district administration, demanding immediate repairs and resurfacing of the road.

The protesters said the road had deteriorated to such an extent that driving on it was extremely difficult, while even walking had become a challenge. They called for its immediate repair to ease the hardships faced by local residents.

They said the authorities had repeatedly been informed about the deteriorating condition of the road, but no action had been taken, despite the issue directly affecting the public’s daily life and basic transportation needs.

The protesters warned that they would intensify their agitation if the authorities failed to address the issue immediately.
