7 Indian forces’ personnel injured in fresh attack in violence-hit Manipur
Imphal: At least seven Indian forces’ personnel were injured in an attack, today, at Moreh in Tengnoupal district of violence-hit Indian state of Manipur.
The forces’ personnel were on their way for a search operation.
The attack occurs a day after the killing of four persons in Thoubal that prompted the authorities to tighten night curfew.
Deputy Commissioner, Krishna Kumar, said that the wounded security personnel were rushed to separate hospitals. Five of the personnel were airlifted to Imphal, where they were admitted to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences. Two others were being treated in Moreh.
Officials said the four of the wounded were Manipur Police commandos and the rest were from the Border Security Force.
It is to be mentioned here that around 200 people have been killed and over 50,000 displaced in the ethnic violence broke out between Metei (mainly Hindus) and Kuki-Zo (majority Christians) communities since May last year.
