Hoshiarpur: Three armed men shot a Dalit sarpanch dead in Punjab, India.
The armed men riding a motorcycle shot dead the sarpanch Sandeep Singh in Dadiyana-Hoshiarpur area of the state on Thursday.
The attackers had covered themselves with shawls. They were known to the deceased, who shook hands with them before being gunned down from a close range.
Sandeep Singh was a Dalit leader. The community has threatened to launch an agitation if the culprits are not arrested.
After the murder, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) workers forced the shopkeepers in the town to down their shutters.
Meanwhile, in another incident of violence, three masked men throw acid on shopkeeper in Sanaur of Patiala city of Punjab. The incident took place when shopkeeper named Nikhil was going to open his hardware shop. Nikhil Singla received burns on the face and arms.
