JKDFF demands implementation of 5 Jan 1949 UN resolution on Kashmir
Paris,: A programme was organized in Paris on the platform of Jammu Kashmir Democratic Forum France (JKDFF) to remind the world and the United Nations that on January 5, 1949 a resolution was passed promising Kashmiris of holding a free and fair plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, all forum office bearers, including Chaudhry Maqsood Ahmed, Chief Patron, Sardar Akhlaq Ahmed, Chairman, Asif Jaral, President, Faraz Ahmed, Senior Vice President, Ali Chaudhary Por, General Secretary, and M. R. Tahir Mirza, Information Secretary, and French Coordinator Asad Ishaq participated in the programme.
In a press briefing the Forum maintained that the purpose of commemorating the resolution of January 5, 1949 is to remind the world of its responsibility regarding the Kashmir dispute.
It said for many decades now, Kashmiris have been waiting for the realization of their right to self-determination. India’s rejection of Kashmiris’ fundamental right to self-determination is a violation of the United Nations Charter, it added.
India’s refusal to grant self-determination to Kashmiris is contrary to its claim to be a democratic republic, it said, adding India is a major obstacle in the way of Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
The Forum said the unilateral actions on August 5, 2019 again testified that India is an occupying power but Modi cannot silence Kashmiris’ call for self-determination through military force.
