Man arrested for offering Azan at old mosque in UP

New Delhi: A young Muslim man was arrested on charges of ‘promoting enmity’ after he offered Azan in a 250-year-old mosque in Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh, India.

Omar Qureshi, a resident of Jalalabad, gave the Azan in front of the mosque at Ahata Gausgarh village and posted a video which went viral.

Qureshi was arrested under Section 505 (2) of Indian Penal Code.
