VDV killed, 4 injured in gunfight in Manipur
Imphal: A Village Defence Volunteer (VDV) was killed and four others were injured in a clash in disturbed Manipur state of India.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the VDV armed man was killed and four other members were critically injured in a gunfight with a guerrilla group, which broke out at a location that lies between the eastern periphery of the state capital, Imphal, and Kangpokpi district.
The injured people were taken to a hospital in Imphal.
One of the injured people was hit by bomb shrapnel on the face while another was hit in the thigh, a police officer said.
Manipur has not fully recovered from the violence that broke out in May 2023 against Indian hegemony in Manipur.
Meanwhile, an Indian paramilitary head constable Rohtas Kumar died of cardiac arrest in Chennai airport.
