Hindutva outfit claims Ajmer Shareef is a Hindu temple
New Delhi: Hindutva organization, Maharana Pratap Sena, has claimed that the Ajmer Sharif Dargah in the Indian state of Rajasthan is a sacred Hindu temple.
The claim has been made by the Maharana Pratap Sena national president, Rajvardhan Singh Parmar, in a letter addressed to Rajasthan Chief Minister, Bhajan Lal Sharma.
In the letter, Parmar has said that his organization had long been advocating for an investigation into the Dargah located in Ajmer city. He insisted that the said Dargah is a revered Hindu temple, not a Dargah.
Parmar stated that despite previous efforts, the Congress government did not take their claims seriously. He further claimed that the people of Rajasthan are in support of this demand.
Parmar called for an investigation similar to those conducted for Babri Masjid in Ayodhya and Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi. He submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, requesting an investigation into the Ajmer Sharif Dargah by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). He said that their demand for a survey of the Dargah was also made during the previous Congress government, but no action was taken.
Earlier, before the formation of the BJP government in Rajasthan, Parmar had written to former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, demanding a survey of the Dargah by the Archaeology Department. He said that historical evidence might reveal the existence of a Hindu temple at the site.
