294 people arrested during police raids in violence-hit Manipur
Imphal: In the violence-hit Indian state of Manipur, the police have arrested 294 people during raids and search operations conducted in various districts of the state.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the police carried out raids and search operations in the sensitive and difficult-to-access areas of the state and arrested 294 individuals on the charge of violating various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
A police spokesperson informed the media that a large deployment of Indian forces has been made in the sensitive areas of the state, and 139 pickets and check-posts have been established in the hills and valleys of different districts.
They further stated that during the course of the raids and search operations, 294 people were arrested.
The northeastern state of Manipur in India has been embroiled in a prolonged period of civil unrest and violence since May 2022, primarily revolving around tensions between the majority Meitei community and the minority Kuki community.
