Indian cop shoots teacher dead in UP
Lucknow: A teacher was shot dead by an Indian policeman in BJP ruled Uttar Pradesh state.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the teacher, Dharmendra Kumar, was shot dead by an Uttar Pradesh Police head constable in Civil Lines area of Muzaffarnagar district of the state.
The victim was part of a team of the education department from Varanasi that had brought Uttar Pradesh Board high school examination answer sheets to a college in Muzaffarnagar, Superintendent of Police (City) Satyanarain Parjapat said.
The head constable, Chander Prakash, was part of the police team that accompanied Kumar and a few other officials from Varanasi, he added.
They were waiting in a vehicle for the college gate to open when the incident took place, the police officer said.
Kumar had a confrontation with head constable Chander Prakash while they were in the vehicle. Police constable shot at Kumar using his service weapon, the officer said.
