Kashmiri leadership criticise Amit Shah’s statement on AFSPA removal, terms it ‘misleading’
Srinagar: Kashmiri leadership criticized the statement of Indian Home Minister Amit Shah on removal of AFSPA a misleading and was of the view that Modi-led Indian Government of BJP is again trying to hoodwink the public opinion just to win the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Like Indian Government cheated people of Ladakh over restoration of Statehood and 6th Schedule Indian Home Minister Amit Shah is resorting to same with the people of Jammu & Kashmir ahead of Lok Sabha elections, said Omar Abdullah, former Chief Minister of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) while reacting the statement of Shah.
“If New Delhi is admitting everything is normal in Jammu and Kashmir, even militancy and separatism are over then I believe it is high time to remove AFSPA and withdraw troops. There should be no need to wait further,” Omar Abdullah said while talking to media reporters in Budgam.
Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Mehbooba Mufti in her reaction on Amit Shah’s statement said that her party has continuously advocated for the repeal of the stringent AFSPA and the gradual reduction of troops in Jammu and Kashmir.
“This stance was also a significant component of our Agenda of Alliance, which was mutually agreed upon by the BJP,” Mehbooba Mufti took to ‘X’ platform.
Mehbooba said in her reaction on Indian Minister Amit Shah’s statement regarding AFSPA revocation and withdrawal of troops from Jammu and Kashmir.
Mehbooba, in a sarcastic tone, pointed out that the BJP’s action, would be preferable, as long as it’s not hollow rhetoric like the promise of generating two crore jobs annually or the empty pledge of depositing 15 lakh rupees into bank accounts.
On the other hand Pasban e Hurriyat leader Uzair Ahmed Ghazali said that Indian Home Minister’s statement regarding the restoration of peace in IIOJK as his mental illness. “If Amit Shah have seen peace has restored in Kashmir then why don’t he withdraw the huge army deployment in Kashmir”, he added.
