Sham elections cannot be substitute for referendum
Islamabad: Nazir Ahmad Qureshi, the head of UK-based “Kashmir Campaign Global” and the founding leader of the World Kashmir Freedom Movement, has said that in the presence of one million Indian soldiers in a small region of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the so-called elections have no significance
According to Kashmir Media Service, Nazir Ahmad Qureshi, addressing a seminar organized by Kashmiri journalists in Islamabad, said the foundations of Kashmir’s freedom movement include the blood of lakhs of martyrs and it does not need any crutch.
He said these sham elections cannot be a substitute for the referendum. He said India is also well aware that the world does not recognize the fraudulent elections held in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He said the cancellation of the special status of occupied Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019 has not been recognized by the world.
Nazir Ahmad Qureshi said, “Our movement started in 1932 and since then this movement has been going on and on.” He said India, especially the Bharatiya Janata Party, is exaggerating the so-called parliamentary elections in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, even BJP could not field a candidate in the territory and what Modi has done on August 5, 2019 received a perfect response from the people.
The Kashmiri leader said it is very important to carry forward the freedom movement with a vision. He said a stable Pakistan is indispensable for the solution of the Kashmir dispute.
