Flood situation worsens in Assam; eight deaths in 24 hours
Dispur: Eight people lost their lives in the past 24 hours as Assam continues to reel under severe floods, taking the total number of flood related deaths in the state this year to 46.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a total population of 16.25 lakh across 2800 villages in 29 districts have been affected by the floods.
The worst affected districts in the state are Nagaon and Darrang in Central Assam and Karimganj in the Barak Valley.
Sonitpur district has confirmed two deaths, while Morigaon, Dibrugarh, Darrang, Golaghat, Biswanath and Tinsukia districts have reported one fatality each.
According to Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), 2,800 villages in the state are currently flood-affected, with 105 revenue circles facing deluge.
