Waqf Amendment Bill an attack on Muslims’ religious rights: Maulana Arshad Madani

New Delhi: President of Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, Maulana Arshad Madani, has strongly criticized the controversial Waqf Amendment Bill introduced by the Modi government, calling it an attack on Muslims’ religious rights and historical heritage.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Maulana Madani, while addressing the ‘Constitutional Protection and National Unity Conference’ in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, emphasized that the survival of India depends on upholding its Constitution. He stated that the proposed amendments in the Waqf Amendment Bill were completely unacceptable to Muslims, with the sole purpose of seizing Waqf properties.

He questioned, “How is it fair for others to manage Muslims’ properties?” He added that this issue was not just a legal matter, but a matter of faith. “We cannot tolerate any interference in our religious affairs,” he said.

Maulana Madani further stated that the controversial bill was a deep conspiracy to seize Waqf properties and deprive Muslims of their historical heritage. He also criticized political parties supporting the bill, stressing that Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind has consistently prioritized peace and harmony over political interests.

He reaffirmed that India is the homeland of Muslims, with their ancestors having lived here for centuries, and that the country’s development should be ensured through mutual respect.
