Glowing tributes paid to July 13 martyrs on eve of martyrdom anniversary
Srinagar: Hurriyat leaders and organizations have paid glowing tributes to the martyrs of July 13, 1931, on the eve of their martyrdom anniversary.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Hurriyat parties, including Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party, Jammu and Kashmir National Front, Jammu Kashmir Muslim League, and Tehreek-e-Hurriyet Jammu and Kashmir, in separate statements in Srinagar paying tributes to the martyrs of July 1931 said that the unprecedented sacrifices rendered by the people of Kashmir for the freedom cause would not be allowed to go waste.
Emphasizing the significance of collective action, the leaders stressed that the best way to honor these martyrs is to unite in the fight against injustice and the forcible occupation of their homeland. They urged Imams and Khateebs to collectively pay tribute to all martyrs and remind the people of their responsibilities in safeguarding their faith and identity.
Other Hurriyat leaders, including Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, Muhammad Iqbal Mir, Javaid Ahmad Mir, Advocate Devender Singh Behl, Imtiyaz Ahmed Reshi, Fayaz Hussain Jafari, and Syed Sibte Shabbir Qumi, in their separate statements in Srinagar, also paid heartfelt tributes to the martyrs of July 13, 1931. They described the martyrs as a beacon of light for the ongoing Kashmiris’ freedom movement. They portrayed the martyrs as guiding lights for Kashmir’s ongoing freedom movement, highlighting that their path continues to inspire Kashmiris today who courageously resist Indian occupation.
The leadership of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front in a statement in Srinagar paid rich tributes to the martyrs of 13th July 1931 and termed the historic incident as a cornerstone in the history of the freedom struggle of Jammu Kashmir.
The party leaders, including Khawaja Saifudin, Hafiz M. Anwar Samavi, Saleem Haroon, Zahid Hussain, Sajid Siddiqi, Khawaja Manzoor A. Chishti, Javed Hanif, Arbab Hussain Advocate, Sardar M. Anwar and others in an informal meeting at the central information office also condemned the continued and unabated Indian state terrorism in occupied Jammu Kashmir and demanded immediate withdrawal of Indian forces from the entire disputed territory.
Meanwhile, APHC-AJK leaders, including Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, Altaf Hussain Wani, Shameem Shawl, Altaf Ahmed Butt, Shaikh Abdul Majid, Muhammad Sultan Butt, Shaikh Yaqoob, Zahid Safi, Syed Gulshan Ahmed, Zahid Ashraf, and Uzair Ahmed Gazali, echoed similar sentiments in their respective statements. They reiterated that the most fitting tribute to these martyrs is through collective resistance against Indian occupation. They underscored that the bloody incident of July 13, 1931, marked a pivotal moment in Kashmir’s protracted struggle for liberation, demonstrating that revolutions are fueled by the sacrifice of martyrs.
In unison, the leaders honored the martyrs as embodiments of courage and steadfastness, whose sacrifices continue to inspire the relentless quest for Kashmir’s freedom from Indian subjugation.
