APHC-AJK remembers July 13, 1931 martyrs in Islamabad

Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter organized a seminar, today, to pay tributes to the martyrs of July 1931.

According to Kashmir Media Service, in the seminar chaired by Convener Ghulam Mohammad Safi, the speakers paid glowing tributes to the martyrs and said that July 13 is an unforgettable day in the history of Jammu and Kashmir when in 1931, on this day, the soldiers of the cruel Dogra ruler attacked the Central Jail Srinagar.

They said the history of Kashmiris is full of eternal sacrifices. In 1947, they added, the cruel era of Dogra ended when India occupied Jammu and Kashmir by force. They said India has made the lives of Kashmiris hell at this time, however, despite the brutal Indian atrocities and tactics, the morale of Kashmiris is high and they are determined to continue their struggle until the mission of the martyrs is completed.

The speakers said Modi’s Hindutva government has broken all records of atrocities against innocent Kashmiris and is bent on turning the Muslim majority into a minority in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

They demanded the world community and international human rights organizations to take notice of the ongoing Indian oppression in the occupied territory and put pressure on India to give the Kashmiris their inalienable right to self-determination.

Apart from Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Altaf Hussain Wani, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Mir Tahir Hussain, Ghulam Nabi Butt, Khateeb Hussain, Haji Muhammad Sultan, Ijaz Rahmani, Imtiaz Wani, Hasan Bana, Javed Jahangir, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Raja Khadim Hussain, Dawood Khan, Sanauullah Dar, Khurshid Mir, Manzoor Ahmed Dar, Syed Kifayat Hussain, Adeel Mushtaq, Muhammad Ashraf Dar, Sheikh Abdul Majid, Zahid Mushtaq, Afsar Khan Afsar, Najeebullah Al Ghafoor, Raies Mir, Khalid Shabbir Manzoor Butt, Malik Ghulam Hasan, Mian Muzaffar, Nisar Mirza, Syed Gulshan, Nazir Karnai, Iqbal Baloch, Muhammad Afsar Khan, Mushtaq Ahmad Butt, Benazir, Qazi Imran, Imtiaz Butt, Attaullah, Abdul Hameed Lone and Abdul Ghani participated in the seminar.

It is to be mentioned that the martyrs of July 13, 1931, were killed by Dogra Maharaja Hari Singh’s troops outside Central Jail in Srinagar, where thousands had gathered to attend court proceedings against one Abdul Qadeer, who had called for defiance against Dogra autocratic rule. When a Kashmiri youth began the call to prayer, Dogra soldiers shot and killed him, and another person who attempted to complete the call to prayer was also shot dead. In total, 22 Kashmiris sacrificed their lives before the call to prayer could be completed.
