BJP leader arrested for stealing rice worth Rs 20 million

Bengaluru: The Indian state of Karnataka, BJP leader Mani Kant Rathore has been arrested for stealing rice valuing Rs 20 million.

The Kashmir Media Service reported that the Bengauru Police arrested the BJP leader from his residence in Kalbargi Shahpur.

The police had earlier called Mani Kant Rathore for questioning but he did not appear before the Police. After which the police raided his house and to him into custody.

Mani Kant has been arrested in connection with the theft of 6077 quintals of rice worth Rs 20 million. The rice was stolen from a government godown in Yadgir district.

Mani Kant Rathore had contested last year against Priyank Kharge, son of Congress president Malkar Jan Kharge, and the top leadership of the BJP, including Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, had campaigned against him.

This rice was to be distributed among non-families under the Bhagya scheme. Under the scheme, every poor family is provided with free 10 kg food grains every month. Several criminal cases like murder, attempted murder and possession of illegal weapons are registered against the BJP leader. KMS—11I
