Don’t travel to IIOJK, Manipur: US issues travel advisory to its citizens
Modi regime changed nothing, NC leader reacts to US advisory
Washington: The United States has issued a revised travel advisory, cautioning its citizens against traveling to Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and certain regions in India, including the violence-stricken state of Manipur, and several central and eastern parts.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the State Department’s updated advisory specifically mentions the heightened risks in these areas. It classifies these regions under “Level 4: Do Not Travel,” the highest advisory level, due to the severe security situation.
“Exercise increased caution in India due to crime and violence. Some areas have increased risk,” the advisory states. It underscores the importance of staying informed about the evolving situation.
Meanwhile, reacting to the revised US travel advisory for its nationals on Thursday, National Conference vice President Omar Abdullah criticized the Modi government, stating that it has “changed nothing” in the region, leading to the continuation of such travel advisories.
“So much for ‘naya J&K’,” he said on X, adding that for “all the talk of normalcy, peace, tourism & the G-20 tamasha in Srinagar”, the US government was still targeting Jammu and Kashmir in its travel advisories.
