Repression in IIOJK intensifies under Modi regime: Mushaal Mullick

Islamabad: Mushaal Hussein Mullick, wife of incarcerated Kashmiri Hurriyat leader Mohammad Yasin Malik, has condemned the intensifying repression in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) under the Modi regime.

According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing a roundtable discussion at the Institute of Regional Studies, she highlighted the alarming rise in human rights violations since 1989, with 96,320 innocent Kashmiris killed and 11,264 women gang-raped.

Mushaal, former SAPM for Human Rights and Women Empowerment, emphasized the direct involvement of Indian security forces in heinous crimes, including mass killings, torture, enforced disappearances, and suppression of freedom of speech. She revealed that over 900,000 Indian troops have subjected 8 million Kashmiris to an inhumane military siege.

The Chairperson of Peace and Council Organization shared harrowing details of torture, including beatings, electric shocks, and brutal physical abuse, resulting in numerous custodial deaths. She warned that the situation will worsen under Modi’s third term and urged India to lift the military siege and rescind illegal actions taken since August 5, 2019.

Mushaal called for global action against India’s human rights abuses in IIOJK, echoing the concerns of participants, including Altaf Wani, Shamim Shwal, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Barrister Needa Salam, Dr. Waseem, and Dr. Waqas Ali Kausar. The roundtable discussion emphasized the need for international intervention to address the escalating human rights crisis in IIOJK.
