Rahul Gandhi slams BJP for trapping farmers in debt cycle

Srinagar: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, saying that the party has trapped India’s farmers in a vicious cycle of debt.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Rahul Gandhi in a post on X emphasized that the INDIA bloc aims to free farmers from this debt trap by providing a legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP).

He criticized the BJP for denying farmers’ demands for MSP and instead pushing them deeper into debt. He praised the Telangana government’s farm loan waiver scheme, which has brought relief to 6.4 lakh farmer families.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy echoed Gandhi’s sentiments, highlighting the Congress government’s commitment to fulfilling its manifesto promises despite financial challenges. The state government’s loan waiver scheme has brought joy to over 18 lakh farmers, restoring faith in politics and promises.

The Congress party’s stance on MSP and farm loan waivers has sparked a debate on the government’s approach to agriculture and farmer welfare. As the issue gains momentum, the BJP faces increasing pressure to address the concerns of India’s farming community.
