Protests erupt in Jammu in favour of Kashmiris’ political rights
Jammu: Protests broke out in Jammu region of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir in support of the Kashmiris’ political and fundamental rights.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in Jammu, the Yuva Rajput Sabha (YRS) took out a strong rally to press for the restoration of occupied Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, which was revoked five years ago.
The protesters, led by YRS president Rajinder Singh, marched to Vikram Chowk, chanting slogans and demanding statehood. The traffice was suspended for hours due to the protest. Singh threatened to intensify protests if the Modi government fails to restore statehood.
In Udhampur, locals and students staged a massive demonstration demanding a government degree college at Moungri. The protesters submitted a memorandum to the Tehsildar, urging the authoriteis to sanction a degree college for the area. They argued that the lack of a college forces students, especially girls, to discontinue their higher education.
