Power, water shortage sparks protests in IIOJK
Srinagar: The acute shortage of electricity, water, and other basic facilities has forced local residents to take to the streets in protest in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, several areas of the occupied territory have plunged into complete darkness, while the lack of drinking water has reached a critical point in some areas.
Residents blocked roads and staged protests against the electricity and water departments over the ongoing shortages. Protesters said the authorities failed to address these issues, despite widespread public outcry.
Protesters have said that the government is deliberately pushing them into a position where they have no choice but to protest in the streets.
The electricity shortage is also a significant issue in Srinagar’s civil lines area. Local shopkeepers and hotel owners say the electricity supply is cut off as early as 6 PM, severely affecting their businesses. They report that this power outage during peak business hours not only affects their livelihoods but also inconveniences customers.
