ED chargesheets quashed against Farooq Abdullah
NC leader sabotaged unity to protect himself from scam
Srinagar: The High Court of occupied Jammu and Kashmir has quashed chargesheets filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against National Conference patron Farooq Abdullah and five others in a money laundering probe linked to a Cricket Association fund misappropriation case.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the ED’s case was based on a 2018 charge sheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against the accused. The case originated from an FIR registered in 2012 against cricket association office bearers Ahsan Ahmad Mirza and Muhammad Saleem Khan for misappropriation of funds. The investigation was later transferred to the CBI.
Commenting on the development, the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has said that Farooq Abdullah sabotaged opposition unity to protect himself from the scam. The PDP claims that Abdullah’s decision to go solo in the Assembly elections is a strategic move to avoid accountability.
Meanwhile, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah have criticized the ongoing cycle of violence in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, despite claims of normalcy by the Modi government.
