Cloudburst triggers flash floods in Bandipora, lightning kills a young boy
Srinagar: Cloudburst triggers flash floods in several villages of Bandipora district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) which damaged several footbridges, link roads, retaining walls and flood water entered several houses.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a government official giving details of the flash flood caused after cloudburst in Arin and Dardpora villages Bandipora said that the flood caused damages to several footbridges as well as retaining walls and crops in the area.
Similarly, another cloudburst in the upper reaches of Chandaji blocked the Bandipora-Gurez road and caused water logging in several houses in Pazalpora and its adjoining areas.
Meanwhile, 16-year-old boy died while two others were injured in a lightning strike incident at Damhal Hanjipora area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district today, officials said.
An official said that the lightning hit Bangward Bala area following which the rescue operation was launched.
“A boy died in the incident, while two others sustained injuries. Police and civil administration rushed to the spot shortly after the incident,” he said.
The deceased has been identified as Mukhtar Ahmad Chouhan, son of Mohammad Hussain Chouhan, from Bangward Bala while the injured was identified as Rafakat Ahmad Chouhan, also the son of Mohammad Hussain Chouhan, from Bangward Bala.
