CRPF man commits suicide in Odisha, highlights growing mental health concerns

Bhawanipatna: The body of an Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) man was found hanging in Odisha state.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the deceased CRPF man, identified as Arjun Charan Nayak, was associated with the CRPF 64 Battalion, deployed against Naxalites. He committed suicide by hanging himself in the CRPF Colony Bhawanipatna area of Kalahandi district.

The police recovered the body from outside the staff quarter in the CRPF Colony and sent it for postmortem.

In a separate incident, Indian Coast Guard Director General Rakesh Pal died at a government hospital in Chennai city due to cardiac arrest.

The recent incidents of suicide and sudden deaths among Indian forces personnel, including CRPF and Coast Guard, indicate a disturbing trend. It suggests that the mental health and well-being of Indian forces personnel are being neglected, leading to increased stress and pressure.

The constant deployment in conflict zones, lack of adequate support systems, and poor working conditions may be contributing factors to this trend.
