Owaisi slams Yogi Adityanath’s new Digital Policy as tactic to conceal failures
Hyderabad: Asaduddin Owaisi, the leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM), has launched a scathing critique against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, saying that Yogi Adityanath has launched a controversial new scheme to divert attention from his administrative shortcomings.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Owaisi, in a post on the social media platform X, criticized the UP government’s recently introduced initiative that reportedly allows individuals to earn up to 8 lakh rupees by posting positive, albeit misleading, content about Yogi Adityanath. He warned that those who legally oppose Yogi Adityanath or his Hindutva party, the BJP, might face charges of treason and imprisonment. Owaisi highlighted that this scheme could enable social media influencers to profit from taxpayer funds while stifling dissent.
The new UP Digital Media Policy 2024, approved by Yogi Adityanath’s cabinet, has been at the center of this controversy. The policy permits influencers to receive substantial advertisements for praising the government, while criticism could result in severe legal consequences.
