Indian troops kill 9 youth in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Indian paramilitary forces killed nine youth during an operation in Chhattisgarh.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident occurred in the dense forest area along the border of Dantewada and Bijapur districts in the Bastar region. The operation was carried out by the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

Inspector General of Police, Bastar Range Sundarraj P claimed that the youth were killed during an encounter which ensued following intelligence about the presence of Naxalites from the West Bastar division. The clash, which involved intermittent gunfire over an extended period, resulted in the recovery of the bodies of nine Naxalites clad in uniforms, as well as a significant cache of weapons from the encounter site, he said.

This incident brings the total number of Naxalites killed in Chhattisgarh this year to 154, according to police sources.

It is important to note that the BJP-led Indian government and its establishment have labeled a significant portion of the lower-class community, which predominantly includes tribal peoples, villagers, Dalits (formerly untouchables), and members of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) (CPI-M), as Naxalites. This classification covers areas with notable influence in Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal, where demands for justice and the establishment of an independent state continue to gain traction.
