Shopian residents thwart massive theft by Indian troops, vehicles seized

Srinagar: In a daring move, residents of Shopian in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, prevented a massive apple theft, intercepting three vehicles driven by Indian army troops.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the vehicles, two load carriers and a Scorpio, were stopped by vigilant locals in the Chitragam Kalan area of the district at around 2 a.m.

Upon inspection, hundreds of stolen apple boxes were discovered inside the vehicles. Although the perpetrators escaped under the cover of darkness, locals quickly alerted the local police, which arrived at the scene and seized the vehicles involved in the theft.

A police official confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation is underway and a search for the burglars is ongoing. This incident comes amid a string of apple theft complaints from orchardists in Shopian district over the past couple of months.
