Congress leader calls out BJP-RSS double standards on Dalits rights, marginalized communities

Jammu: Congress leader and Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani has launched a scathing critique of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), labeling them as anti-Dalit and hostile to marginalized communities.

According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking at a press conference in Jammu, Mevani highlighted the hypocrisy of BJP leaders, particularly during assembly elections in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and India’s Haryana state.

Mevani said that the BJP was displaying fake love for Dalits, questioning their genuine commitment to the welfare of this community. “The RSS has been at the forefront of mistreating Dalits while spreading hate and intolerance,” he stated, adding, “The BJP sheds crocodile tears for Dalits in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana, but what about the plight of Dalits in Gujarat? What about the diverted funds meant for our development?”

He pointed to a recent scandal involving a massive Rs 13,000 crore scam in the Jal Jeevan Mission in IIOJK, implicating Dalit IAS officer Ashok Kumar Parmar. Mevani expressed shock at Prime Minister Modi’s silence on the issue, questioning why the government had not taken action or filed an FIR in response to such a significant corruption case.

“The BJP’s hypocrisy is evident. They claim to care about Dalits, yet when a Dalit IAS officer exposes a massive scam, he faces harassment and demotion,” Mevani asserted. He emphasized that the government’s inaction reflects its true priorities, suggesting that it is more focused on protecting the accused than on delivering justice.

Calling for accountability, Mevani urged citizens to unite and fight for a government that genuinely represents the interests of all communities, not just a privileged few. “We need a future where Dalits and OBCs are treated with dignity and respect,” he concluded, reinforcing his commitment to advocating for the rights of marginalized populations.
