IIOJK: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq urges adherence to Islamic teachings

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, has called on the Kashmiris to adhere to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) to lead a virtuous life.

According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking during congregational Friday prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, the Mirwaiz expressed deep concern over the increasing prevalence of un-Islamic practices within society, particularly the alarming rise in black magic and superstitions. He emphasized that these practices hark back to the Jahiliyah (Age of Ignorance) and stand in stark contradiction to the principles of Islam.

He reminded the gathering that faith in Allah and adherence to the prophetic tradition are essential for leading a righteous life, urging caution against those who seek to exploit others through such means.

Additionally, Mirwaiz called upon the people of Kashmir to extend their support to families affected by recent fires in Kishtwar and Gurez, where over 100 homes, including the Jamia Masjid, were lost. He highlighted the urgent moral and religious duty to assist these vulnerable communities, especially as harsh weather conditions approach.

Mirwaiz commended the ongoing relief efforts by organizations such as Dar-ul-Khair Mirwaiz Manzil and encouraged the public to contribute generously to these initiatives.
