‘Modi govt responsible for Yasin Malik’s deteriorating health’
Islamabad: The Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front has expressed deep concern over the deteriorating health of its party leader Muhammad Yasin Malik, who is on hunger strike in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the chief spokesperson JKLF Muhammad Rafiq Dar, was addressing a press conference at the NPC Islamabad, alongside Yasin Malik’s daughter, Razia Sultana, and other party leaders. He warned that if Yasin Malik suffers any harm, the entire responsibility will fall on the Modi government.
Rafiq Dar noted that Malik’s health has significantly worsened due to over five years of solitary confinement, the lack of medical care, continuous mental torture, and inhumane treatment, raising deep concerns among his family and the Kashmiri community worldwide.
He emphasized that Malik is facing severe political retaliation for standing firm on his stance. Following a one-sided and unjust trial, Malik has been sentenced to life imprisonment, with the Modi government reportedly aiming for his execution, which is the height of fascism.
He reiterated that Yasin Malik is not seeking his release but demanding proper medical treatment as per Indian and international laws.
Dar called for protests against India and in support of Yasin Malik on the occasion of Jammu Martyrs’ Day and announced a hunger strike on November 7 to express solidarity with him.
Razia Sultana, daughter of Yasin Malik appealed to the international community and human rights organizations to save her father’s life, highlighting his existing health issues, which are exacerbated by the hunger strike.
It is pertinent to mention that Yasin Malik has been on a hunger strike for the past five days against the lack of adequate medical facilities in Tihar jail.
