Indian police attach multiple properties of a civilian in IIOJK
Srinagar: In yet another instance of BJP-led Indian government’s ongoing policy to dispossess Kashmiris of their rightful properties under draconian laws, authorities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) have targeted the assets of a civilian in Baramulla district.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Indian police have attached two residential houses and three vehicles belonging to Rafiq Ahmad Khan, a resident of Trikangan Boniyar in Baramulla. The total value of the seized properties amounts to INR 1.72 crore. Police authorities claim that these assets were obtained illegally.
This latest move forms part of a larger and intensifying crackdown on the properties of Kashmiris since the revocation of IIOJK’s special status in August 2019. Critics argue that these seizures on various pretexts are part of a larger strategy to alter the demographic makeup of the occupied territory, systematically marginalizing local Kashmiris by dispossessing them of their land and homes and reallocating these properties to non-local settlers.
