Muzaffarabad: A seminar titled, “The Role of the Kashmir Women: The Future Perspective” was organised by the Institute of the Dialogue, Development and Diplomatic Studies, Muzaffarabad, in collaboration with the Post Graduate Degree College, Leepa.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a huge number of women from Leepa Valley attended the seminar.
In the opening remarks, Malik Zaffar, Principal of the Postgraduate Degree College, said the Leepa Valley women had rendered huge sacrifices in the ongoing Kashmir freedom movement. He said, “Our daughters understand well the difference between freedom and slavery. Our daughters know that they need to work hard to prove their worth; her tools are books and pens, which play the role.”
He emphasised that the women of occupied Kashmir, particularly those languishing in India’s notorious Tihar Jail, have emerged as powerful symbols of resilience and leaders in one of the most vulnerable regions in the world.
Prof Faizur Rehaman paid glowing tribute to the daughters of the Indian illegally occupied Kashmir. He said, “In this region where geopolitical tensions persist, the role of Kashmiri women becomes all the more significant. These women, often bearing the brunt of conflict, profoundly understand the value of peace and freedom.”
Dr Naveed Qurishi threw light on the resilience of the Leepa and the voices for change. He emphasized the importance of women recognizing the value of using their unique experiences to advocate for liberty and justice. These courageous women are not only symbols of survival but also architects of a future where freedom can be unchained from the shackles of oppression, he maintained.
Prof. Rakhshanda said the role of Kashmiri women in this journey is pivotal and their stories serve as a testament to their strength and vision. They stand as role-models for those across borders, showcasing the power of women to challenge adversity, lead change, and contribute to creating a peaceful and equitable society, she added.
Dr Waleed said that the movement for the right to self-determination demands fresh and new ideas to advance, such as innovative strategies for advocacy and community engagement, and academia and research are potent fronts.
